Depending on how strong your prescription is or the size of the frame your pick, it is highly recommended that you choose the right lens index. The higher the index, the thinner your lenses will be.
Choosing a thinned lens is recommended for all prescription outside the +1.50/-2.00 range.
Choosing a thinned lens will give a better result both in terms of looks and in terms of comfort. For exemple, for a prescription of -5.00 an extra-thinned lens (1.67) will be 35% thinner and lighter than a normal 1.5 lens.
Here is a quick guide in helping you decide which thinned lens is best suited for your prescription.
For lenses ranging from :
+1.50 and -2.00: the included lenses will do (Index 1.5)
+3.00 and -4.50: You will get a better result with these thinned lenses (Index 1.61)
+5.00 and -7.00: Go for our extra-thinned lenses(Index 1.67)
+8.00 and -14.00: Get our ultra-thinned lenses. Splurge, it is worth it. (Index 1.74)
Did you know that we spend on average more than 6 hours in front of a computer every single day? Did you also know that the blue light emitted by all the digital screens (computers, phones, iPad) can be nocive for the health of your retina?
All the "new light sources" that are designed to make our lives better and easier contain a higher proportion of blue light than the old traditional light bulbs. The different spectral composition of the light means that we are exposed to significantly more blue light than before.
Blue light can damage the human eye. As well as leading to painful inflammation of the conjunctiva and cornea, it can also cause damage to the eye's crystalline lens (e.g., cataracts) and especially to the retina (macular degeneration).
Choosing our Blue light protection option for your lenses means that your lenses will block up to 80% of this harmful light.
Because this lens blocks blue light, depending on the prescription, it can have a very faint residual yellow tint when placed in front of a white piece of paper . The benefits of these lenses far outweigh this minor inconvenience.
Photochromic lenses, also know as Transitions lenses, change color when exposed to UV rays. The higher the intensity of UV rays the darker the lens. This means that on a sunny day they will be very dark, but on a cloudy day, they will have a lighter tint, and inside, they will be clear. These lenses adapt to your environment and will go from clear to dark to clear in a matter of minutes.
Transitions lenses are available in 2 colors: Gray and Brown.
Transitions Gray lenses will simply reduce the amount of light that reaches your eye when tinted. As for the Transitions Brown lenses, they will do the same but will also enhance the contrast of green and red, altering slightly the natural colors.
It is possible to transform any of our frame into sunglasses, with a prescription or not. Simply choose between a gray tint that will reduce the amount of light that reaches your eyes, or a brown tint that will not only reduce the amount of light that reaches your eyes, but will also enhance the contrasts of green and red.
Coatings for sunglasses lenses
Our tinted lenses do not come by default with any coatings. It is up to you if you decide to get a scratch-resistant coating for durability or a anti-glare coating on the "eye-side" of the lenses to avoid ghost-image created by the light coming from the sides.
